What does "Mapped Data Year" mean?

When browsing maps on IP3 ASSESS, you will notice a message in the lower right corner of the map indicating the Mapped data year. This message indicates which year the data on the map reflects. This may differ from the date of the data you see in the visualizations below the map. This is because, in some rare cases, data is not available in all places, for all years. We always map the most current data, even when that year of data is not available for your specific Selected Area. We map the most current data so you can see the locations for which we do have information, which may be adjacent counties or tracts. We have added this mapped data year label to be transparent about what the map is showing. You can see the date that the other visualizations use in the Years Available below. The bolded number is the date for the other non-map visualizations.
