Custom Areas with Census Tracts
IP3 ASSESS supports area configuration using 11-digit census tracts. The 11 digits are made up of the following components:
00 (state) + 000 (county) + 000000 (tract)
00 - State FIPS code (Find your state code here)
000 - County FIPS code (Find your county code here)
000000 - Tract ID code - These digits represent the four-digit tract code + the two digits you'll sometimes see following the decimal (e.g., 107.01 would be 010701). You'll need to add leading zeros to have the full 6 digits. Here are some examples of creating a 6-digit tract:
Tract 10 = 001000
Tract 111.02 = 011102
Let's look at a few examples of interpreting a full 11-digit census tract in IP3 | Assess
54 (State is West Virginia) 039 (County is Kanawha) 012300 (Tract is 123) 39 (State is Ohio) 061 (County is Hamilton) 024901 (Tract is 249.01) |
